Groundbreaking ceremony for highway project Kota Bharu – Kuala Krai(Package 1B: Pasir Hor to Kadok) was executed by the Hon. Tan Sri Dato ‘Hj. Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin, Deputy Prime
Minister at the site ground-breaking ceremony in Tiong, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
The project Jalan Kota Bharu – Kuala Krai 73.5km linking Kuala Krai, Kelantan and Pahang border Simpang Pelangai and Negeri Sembilan.
The project is part of the Central Spine Road (CSR) and when completed be parallel to the Federal Road FT08. The scope of the project is 4-lane 2-carriageway complying to JKR Standard R5.
The design work and land acquisition plan was completed in year 2007.
The project, which started from Wakaf Siku, Kota Bharu to Kg. Dusun Damar, Kuala Krai is divided into three main packages Package 1: Wakaf Siku to Kadok, Kota Bharu (12.5 km), Package 2: Kadok, Kota Bharu to Bukit Tiu, Machang (28.5km) and Package 3: Bukit Tiu, Machang to Kg. Dusun Damar, Kuala Krai (32.5km).
The new route could accommodate increasing traffic flows in the existing federal roads and improve the level of accessibility, comfort and safety of road users. This project will also be a catalyst for infrastructure and economic development along the corridor East Coast Economic Region (ECER).
Also present were the Hon. Datuk Hj. Fadillah Yusof, Minister of Works, Dato ‘Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry cum Chairman of the Kelantan. Federal Action Council, Dato ‘Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansur, Minister of Federal Territories and local leaders.
