It was reported that the authorities have issued a stop-work order at the Mydin mall construction site at Pulau Sebang, Melaka pending investigation into a roof collapse incident that left three foreign workers dead.

Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH)’s initial investigation revealed possible breach of safe operation procedure.

DOSH had identified main contractor Jurustra Sdn Bhd and sub contractor Wee Lim Construction Sdn Bhd for investigations into the incident, which also left six injured.

“DOSH has issued an immediate stop-work order to identify the main cause of the incident.

 National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, in a press statement, said those involved in the construction industry should realise the dire consequences of flouting safety guidelines.
