It was reported that two construction workers are believed to have been injured after the iron scaffolding or ‘scaffolding’ of the highway under construction collapsed near the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Highway Toll Plaza (DASH) Kota Damansara exit, on Saturday evening.

According to the Director of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, Norazam Khamis, they received an emergency call at 7.14 pm.

A total of nine members along with two machines from the Sungai Buloh Fire and Rescue Station were rushed to the scene.

According to firefighters, the victim who was a Bangladeshi man aged between 20 and 40 years old was doing work under the structure.

“Based on preliminary reports, the concrete rubble that is under construction has collapsed from a height of 12 meters,” he said in a statement here, on Saturday.

Commenting further, Norazam said all the victims suffered minor injuries and were sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selangor for treatment.

Meanwhile, Projek Lintasan Damansara-Shah Alam Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) in a statement on Saturday, confirmed the incident.

“Two Bangladeshi workers were injured and were taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.

“The incident did not involve highway users or the general public as it took place inside a covered construction area.

“The DASH Emergency Response Team (ERT) has been at the scene to control traffic and remove the iron scaffolding involved,” said Prolintas who is the developer for the DASH Highway project.

Accordingly, Prolintas informed, a work stoppage order at the construction site was issued immediately.

“The developer and the main contractor involved will give full cooperation to the authorities in conducting the investigation.

“We will issue a follow-up statement regarding this incident from time to time,” the statement added.
